Room 3 children are learning to use rakau (sticks) in time to the rhythm and beat of waiata. (songs)
Some of us discovered were 'naturals' at it! Some of us ... well ... we're getting better with practice!
Here's some of us having lots of fun co-ordinating our moves ...
Did you know that many years ago, Maori used used stick games to help them train in spear fighting, to prepare them for battle?
Well done Room 3. Using rakau is a great thing to help your coordination and keeping in time to a rhythm. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteI remember learning the rakau sticks when I was a young girl at school, I think your still doing the same songs we did back then to. It takes good co-ordination and practice to sing, tap, throw and catch. It looks like your all doing very well at it.
ReplyDeleteI had fun doing rakau sticks!
