Today Manu (from Te Manuwa Museum) came to visit us. He brought some very interesting artefacts. We saw him: use some traditional Maori carving tools, play some musical instruments made from wood and vegetables, and he showed us how the Maori people used stones to imitate the sounds of insects. This is how they caught birds!
At the end of the session. He asked us to give him 4 words in Maori. Then he made a song up on the spot for us using these words. Very clever. Thanks Manu.
It was really interesting looking at all the musical instruments and the carving tools. Manu told me that you asked some really great questions. Well done. I am looking forward to seeing what you learn about during our maoritanga inquiry.
